The Mist
Directed by: Frank Darabont
Starring: Thomas Jane, Marcia Gay Harden, Laurie Holden, Frances Sternhagen
What’s it about?: Based on a novella from Stephen King’s short story collection, Skeleton Crew, “The Mist” is about a group of townspeople stranded in a grocery store after a mist lands over the town and is filled with horrific, violent creatures.
Is it any good?: Indeed, it is. Frank Darabont has a way of trying to capture King’s stories as closely as possible. He did make a slight adjustment to the ending, which is one of the most shocking endings I have seen in a long time. Take that as good or bad. But it will shock you. The acting is pretty decent. Thomas Jane is the only actor in the movie that I even recognized. Harden is creepy as an over religious zealot who ends up trying to congregate the people to make a human sacrifice. The effects are pretty good too. Of course, they are cgi, but they don’t over-do it like the very much so over-hyped “I Am Legend” did. So, there’s a plus for you. The thing about this movie is that, no matter how horrific the creatures are outside, the people inside are the ones you start worrying about.
Out of ten? 7/10

Does not really look like this week is hitting on a whole lot, but on a lighter note, Disney is releasing it’s newest Platinum Edition dvd of the animated classic “101 Dalmations” on Tuesday. Other main releases include “Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium” and Hayden Christensen’s “Awake”.

Hello there. My name is Alan. I started this website a couple of years ago, only for some error to crash my site. Then a few days ago, I got the urge to try to fix everything and put it back online. So here it is! I think that this layout will only be temporary until I can learn the coding a little bit better for the blogging tool that I am using. And if you find a broken link somewhere, leave a comment somewhere on the site please, and I’ll try to get it fixed asap.
